C A Bhavani Devi is the first woman in India to qualify for fencing and compete at the Tokyo Olympic Games. In 2017,  Bhavani became the first-ever Indian fencer to win a Gold medal at a Satellite Grade tournament . 


In 2018, She finished 36th Ranked in the World and made history by becoming the first Indian to win consecutive Gold medals. She won the first Gold Medal for fencing in the Commonwealth championship in 2018 by breaking the fencing record of 44-years.

In 2019,  she bettered her world championship performance by finishing 16th in that years edition

Navjot founded the Washing Machine Project which provides displaced and low income communities with an accessible, off-grid washing solution by empowering women to take charge of their lives. Their particular focus is on reaching; refugees, displaced people, homeless and low-income families.


Since its creation, the Project has reached 6 counties positively impacting lives of 30,000 and this year is expected to impact lives in 6 other countries and help 100,000 individuals. Other manual washing machines are not great for washing large volumes or heavy clothing regularly leading to outbreaks of skin diseases in refugee settings. Sustainability is a critical factor from design to delivery given that the Project works in areas hardest hit by Climate Change like Middle East and Africa where water availability is scarce. 

Since its creation, The Washing Machine Project has positively impacted the lives of people from refugees in Iraq, Lebanon and Poland to, children in Uganda, homeless people on the streets of Fort Worth Texas, and disabled people in Kiribati.

Highlights include investments in QCIL (Uganda), the first WHO pre-approved pharmaceutical company in Sub-Saharan Africa; Vero Foods (Uganda), a bottled mineral water producer in the region; Sweden Ghana Medical Centre (Ghana), a cancer treatment facility; Snapper Hill Clinic (Liberia), a medical clinic with an emphasis on women and children; and a financing facility with NMB Bank (Zimbabwe), taking advantage of mispricing of investment risk in the country.
